October 13, 2011: CBS Evening News Story

CBS Evening news did a report on drug shortages as a result of Senator Elijah Cummings letter to Allied and 4 of our competitors.

In the report CBS reporter Armen Keteyian portraied Allied in a very negative light. The report was fill with complete fabrications which were later proven to be false. Reporter Armen Keteyian interviewed a disgruntled ex-employee of Allied (employed for 4 months in 2009, terminated and at the time of the interview was a competitor) and claimed she was an insider to the company. The identity of this person was hidden because she knew the information she was giving was not true.

Allied knows exactly who this person is and is currently involved in litigation for damages against this employee who lied about the company and our practices.

The CBS's report claimed the following:

  • FALSE STATEMENT - The FBI was getting involved and potentially pursing charges against Allied.

FACT - The FBI was never involved and never made any attempt to be involved.

  • FALSE STATEMENT - Allied hoards cytarabine normally sold at $12.00 and sold it for nearly $1000.00 during a drug shortage.

FACT - Allied purchased cytarabine for nearly $500.00, transported it within hours across the country and rushed it to a patients surgery which saved a little boys life. Allies charged the hospital $990.00 which included Allied's cost for the drug, locating it and transporting it within 48 hours to get to the patient in time to save his life.

The CBS report was a malicious attempt to get ratings and had no intention of reporting the truth. All negative claims made in the report about Allied were proven to be false.
